3606732 - Financial Transaction Type field gets erased after clearing process

Symptom

When clearing an entry which had Financial Transaction Type maintained, this value gets empty in the cleared document despite the Field Status Group is set as a Required Entry.

Environment

SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Use the Display Line Items in General Ledger app to check the value in the Financial Transaction Type field, which should be marked as mandatory (Req. Entry) and transported from lower tenants in a three-system landscape.
  2. In the Clear G/L Accounts, select these Journal Entries with Financial Transaction Type maintained.
  3. Click in the Post button to clear them.
  4. In the Display Line Items in General Ledger app, selected these cleared items and open them.
  5. See that the Financial Transaction Type field is empty and not mandatory anymore.

Cause

In the clearing line item process, the setting of the G/L account is ignored (including the mandatory fields). This is the intended behavior to create highly aggregated line items. For this reason, the clearing process does not fill the transaction type automatically to the clearing item. In addition, the mandatory field check does not happen.

Resolution

The simulate and edit options must be used so the Transaction Type can be entered manually in the clearing item.
