Symptom
- Is it possible to reactivate purged users in SuccessFactors?
- As a SuccessFactors administrator, I have soft purged users then tried to reactivate them via Basic Import, but employee data was not restored automatically.
- As a SuccessFactors administrator, I want to reactivate permanently purged users.
Environment
SAP SuccessFactors HCM suite
Resolution
Can you reactivate a soft purged user?
Yes, you can reactivate a soft purged user. However, the reactivated profile will only contain the User ID and Username. All other data will be lost unless it was backed up before the purge. [Reference: KBA 2091409 Import & Export Process for Extended User Information in SuccessFactors HXM Suite ]
Steps to Reactivate a Soft Purged User:
-
Go to Admin Center > Import Employee Data
-
Select the action: Import
-
Click on the More Options button
-
Select Re-activate purged users
-
Click Process Employees
-
Upload an import file containing the same User ID that was soft purged
-
If a different User ID is used, the system will create a new user instead of reactivating the purged one.
-
-
Submit the job
-
The user will be reactivated, but set to Inactive by default.
-
-
Update the reactivated user's status to Active
Important Notes:
-
After reactivation, the user profile will show only the User ID and Username.
-
All other user data (such as job info, personal info, and employment details) will be blank.
-
If you did not back up the user data prior to the soft purge, that data cannot be restored.
- If you have run a hard purge (aka permanent purge) to this user, so all user data is completely removed. You cannot re-activate it.
