Symptom
- An error is encountered when candidate is attempting to submit Personal Data Collection.
- The error message displayed is: "java.lang.IllegalStateException: com.successfactors.personandemployment.api.servicelayer.exception.ServiceLayerException: Failed to trigger HrisSync"
Environment
SAP SuccessFactors Onboarding
Reproducing the Issue
- Login as an Onboardee.
- Complete the Personal Data Collection stage.
- Observe the error: "java.lang.IllegalStateException: ServiceLayerException: Failed to trigger HrisSync".
Cause
Cause 1: The error is due to unsupported HRIS-sync mapping defined in the system.
Cause 2: A unique constraint violation occurred during HRIS Sync because the Username field was mapped to other fields that was not unique.
Resolution
Solution 1:
- Run Check Tool > Employee Central HRIS Sync to identify if some fields are incorrectly defined in Manage Business Configuration > Employee Central > HRIS Sync Mappings.
- The system synchronizes some Employee Central data based on the hard-coded sync mappings from HRIS fields to standard and userinfo elements.
- To avoid unexpected behaviors, don't delete nor duplicate hard-coded sync mappings.
Solution 2:
- Navigate to Manage Business Configuration.
- Go to HRIS Sync Mapping.
- Verify that the Username field is mapped to Staff Code.
- Ensure that the Staff Code value mapped to the Username is unique before submission.
- Check for any duplicate Staff Code values that may result in duplicate usernames.
- If the issue persists, or if uniqueness cannot be guaranteed, remove the Username field from the HRIS Sync Mapping.
