3607520 - Resource Management permits overstaffing

Symptom

In Resource Management, the system allows staffing a resource beyond the requested hours.

Environment

SAP Project and Resource Management - Resource Management

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Create resource demands in the work package of a customer project, or in "Manage Project Demand" for an enterprise project.
  2. After replication, the resource requests are received in Resource Management.
  3. In RM, the Resource Manager has identified that the resources can be assigned beyond the requested hours.

Cause

The system is designed to allow overbooking. This is a standard behavior to accommodate peak workloads.

Resolution

Currently, our standard functionality does not support restrictions on overstaffing. Furthermore, we do not offer custom logic to implement these restrictions.

If a restriction is desired, a feature request can be submitted via the Customer Influence platform. The platform allows customers to raise requests and vote on enhancement proposals. These voting results inform SAP of the product changes customers are most interested in for future releases.

Please refer to the KBA below to submit a new feature request or vote on the existing feature request.
