3608102 - Filter shows "All" instead of an overview of the selected values in SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC)

After selecting some specific members in the Filter Settings the filter shows "All" instead of an overview of the selected values.

SAP Analytics Cloud Enterprise

1. Login to SAC.
2. Open Story.
3. Create a filter for a dimension.
4. Select some members in the Filter Settings.
5. Notice that filter shows All instead of the selected values.

This behaviour is by design.

There is a difference between "dynamic All" and "static All" in the context of member selection in SAC story filters:

• Dynamic All refers to when the story creator selects "All" in the member selector. In this case, the selection remains dynamic—if new members are added to the dimension in the data model, they will automatically be included in the filter.
• Static All reflects the selection of all currently available members at the time of configuration. From the story viewer’s perspective, it appears as "All," but it does not include any members that are added later. The selection is fixed and will not update automatically with changes in the model.

The reason the input control still shows "All" in the static case is to indicate that all currently available members are selected. This is especially relevant in scenarios where row-level restriction is applied (for example, in an organizational or regional dimension) so each viewer may see a different subset of members. For these users, "All" means all the members they are permitted to see.
