3608136 - Material Requirements Planning (MRP) Run with Planning Mode 3 Not Deleting and Recreating Existing Planned Orders

Symptom

When running MRP with Planning Mode '3' (Delete and Recreate Planning Data), the system does not delete existing planned orders or generate new ones, even though the mode is correctly selected. The MRP run completes without any changes or errors

Environment

SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Run MRP with Planning mode 1 using "Schedule MRP Run" app.
  2. Go to MD04 and note the MRP element number.
  3. Run MRP for the same material with Planning mode 3 using "Schedule MRP Run" app.
  4. Check if the existing MRP element number is deleted and new number is created.

Cause

Planning Mode '3' (Delete and Recreate) only affects materials included in the MRP run. If there are no planning-relevant changes, the material is skipped, so existing MRP elements are not deleted or recreated.

Resolution

To ensure the system includes the material in the MRP run and reprocesses it fully, Planning Mode '3' should be used in combination with “Regenerative Planning”. This setting instructs the system to process all materials, regardless of whether changes have occurred.
