Symptom
- The comments field is not visible when trying to resubmit a workflow after it has been returned.
- The issue is observed when attempting to resubmit the workflow on behalf of a specific employee.
- The expectation is for the comments field to be visible during the resubmission process, but it is not currently available.
Environment
SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central
Reproducing the Issue
- Proxy as the specific employee
- Check the returned workflow that needs resubmission
- Notice the absence of the comments field during the resubmission process
Cause
This behavior is expected by design and aligns with the standard workflow functionality in Employee Central.
Resolution
This is expected system behavior in SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central:

When a workflow is returned, the initiator is presented with the following three action buttons:
➤ Resubmit
➤ Update
➤ Withdraw -
The Comments field is not shown directly on the Resubmit screen.

If the initiator needs to add a comment or change information, they should select the "Update" button. This action will redirect them to the originating page (e.g., Job Information, Personal Information), where they can modify data and add comments before resubmitting.

The Comments field is only visible to approvers or contributors during the workflow approval process.
This behavior is by design and aligns with the standard workflow functionality in Employee Central.
