Symptom
If the resume field is not required on both Candidate Profile template and Application template, the candidates are able to apply using the Reimagined Candidate Experience without providing a resume.
Environment
SAP SuccessFactors Recruiting Management
Reproducing the Issue
- Enable the Reimagined Candidate Experience
- Make the resume field not required on the Candidate Profile template and required on the Application template
- Apply as a candidate
- In the first step, change the option to "Manual"
- You can then complete the application without uploading a resume

Resolution
This has been reviewed by Product Management and Engineering, and it is an expected behavior:
- The required property is resolving from the Candidate Profile template only and not from the Application template. This is expected and will be added to the documentation shortly.
- If the candidate selects "Resume" in the dropdown (rather than "Manual"), this indicates to the system how they want to fill the data in their form (resume parsing vs manual), and therefore the resume becomes required irrespective of the configuration.
NOTE - Behavior of the Manual option in the new candidate experience:
- If Resume is configured as mandatory in Application template, Manual option should not be displayed.
- Manual Option is only displayed when Resume is either not configured or configured as optional in Application template.
