3610218 - Import job failing for Public Dimensions after S/4 HANA upgrade in SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC).

Symptom

After the S4 HANA upgrade, the import job to public dimensions is failing with the error "schema of data source has been changed unable to map."

Environment

SAP ANALYTICS CLOUD version 2025.1.8

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Login to SAC.
  2. Open the model
  3. Go to Data Management
  4. Click to refresh the import job
  5. The job fails with error "schema of data source has been changed unable to map"

Cause

The issue arises when changes are made to backend data models, which can lead to mismatches between locally stored metadata in visualizations and the updated backend metadata. This discrepancy may result in errors that disrupt visualizations or entire stories/applications.

Currently, SAC lacks the functionality to update the modified database name in the metadata of existing jobs, making it impossible to resolve these issues without rebuilding or replacing the affected models.

Resolution

1. Navigate to the existing model.
2. Click on the 'Rebuild Model Button' located under the Edit Toolbar.
3. Confirm the changes by checking the box at the bottom left of the model popup and click 'ok'.

This will redirect you back to the model creation interface, where you'll find the model requirements, information, and options. Here, you can validate the dataset again and create a new metadata definition for the data-source.
