When executing Balance Carryforward for Year ZZZZ, error message is shown:

"Company ABC/ Set of Books DEF: Balance carry forward run not performed since YYYY, only current year values shown. Perform outstanding balance carry forward runs since YYYY"

However, there are no postings on the FY YYYY for Company ABC, hence it wasn't expected to execute a Balance Carryforward for this Fiscal Year.

(ABC stands for the Company ID, DEF for the respective Set of Books, YYYY is the fiscal year that precedes fiscal year ZZZZ)

SAP Business ByDesign

1. Go to General Ledger work center.
2. Open Balance Carryforward view.
3. Create a new Carryforward Run for Company ABC, Set of Books DEF for the year of ZZZZ.
4. Click on Start Now.
5. Error message will be raised.

Although there are no postings, FY YYYY exists for accounting in the system along with the respective fiscal periods, so the process to close the fiscal year as described in the help document Closing Fiscal Years do apply for it as well.

To check this, follow the steps below:

1. In General Ledger work center, open Sets of Books and Assigned Companies view.
2. Search for Company ABC.
3. Click on Edit Fiscal Years.

It is required to create a Balance Carryforward in update mode for Fiscal Year YYYY, execute the process of closure, then the same could be done for Fiscal Year ZZZZ.
