3610642 - Solr Index Job Performance Degradation When Choose Optimize Mode

Symptom

During the Solr indexing job, the following performance issue have been observed:

  1. High memory usage was observed on the solr pod. In memory profiling of dynatrace, the hotspots were observed on DirectUpdateHanler2 class.



  2. Given the same conditions (data volume, coding), the Solr indexing time is longer than expected, and it could be finished with the errors.: org.apache.solr.client.solrj.SolrServerException: Timeout occurred while waiting response from server at: http://solr-1.solr.default.svc.cluster.local:8983/solr/master_backoffice_backoffice_product_flop_shard1_replica_n5
