3611083 - Missing End Event Not Displayed When Saving Diagram in SAP Signavio Process Manager

Symptom

  • When saving a diagram in SAP Signavio Process Manager, the modeling conventions do not display an error if the end event is missing.
  • The user is unable to make changes to modeling conventions under the Define Modeling Conventions setting in SAP Signavio Process Manager.

Image/data in this KBA is from SAP internal systems, sample data, or demo systems. Any resemblance to real data is purely coincidental.

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Attempt to save a diagram in SAP Signavio Process Manager with a start event but no end event.
  2. Notice that when saving the diagram, no error message is displayed under: 'Does your diagram meet defined modeling conventions?'
  3. Under Setup, open the Define Modeling Conventions setting.

  4. Try enabling the rule "4.8 Consistent Use of Start and End Events" as an error for the SAP Signavio Best Practices for BPMN 2.0 modeling convention.
  5. Notice that the rule cannot be edited.

Resolution

  1. Instead, try adding a new custom modeling convention.
    • Defining a new convention means creating a customized set of rules whereas predefined SAP Signavio Best Practices modeling convention cannot be edited.
  2. Additionally, make sure to check the save dialog option above the convention check to ensure it shows up when the modeler saves the diagram.
