3611372 - Text Not Visible in Lower Level of Level Based Hierarchy with Compounded Key in SAP Datasphere Analytic Model

Symptom

  • In the SAP Datasphere Analytic Model, the text is not visible in the lower level of a level-based hierarchy with a compounded key.
  • This issue is observed when previewing the hierarchy in the Analytic Model.
  • The hierarchy displays the ID correctly, but the text is missing at the lowest level.

Environment

SAP Datasphere

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Go to the Analytic Model.
  2. Move dimension into the rows.
  3. Select the hierarchy.
  4. Expand the nodes.
  5. Lower nodes do not display the text information.

Cause

The cause of the issue is that level-based hierarchies are not supported for dimensions with more than one key column.

Resolution

  1. Use a parent-child hierarchy: In the case of a compounded dimension, for the text to work correctly in the hierarchy, the hierarchy definition must match the same number of parent-child pairs as used for compounding.
  2. Alternatively, use a hierarchy with directory.
