Symptom
You want to understand how Planned Duration behaves when updating Start Date or Due Date in Tasks.
Environment
- SAP Sales Cloud Version 2
- SAP Sales and Service Cloud Version 2
Reproducing the Issue
- Open the Navigation menu.
- Select Activity Manager view.
- Select Tasks.
- Open the desired Task.
- Under the General section, you will see the fields:
- Start Date/Time
- Due Date/Time
- Planned Duration.
Cause
Once you enable the Start Date & Time you need to set a Planned Duration by default.
Resolution
Once the Task is created:
- If you change the Start Date, the Due Date will adjust to maintain the Planned Duration.
- If you change the Due Date, the Planned Duration will be recalculated.
- If you change the Planned Duration, the Due Date will adjust, keeping the Start Date.
This behavior is by design and ensures consistent time relationships between the fields.
