3613600 - Metadata cache on customizing tenant is outdated for custom services created in the context of Developer Extensibility - SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition

Symptom

  • Creating a custom service in the context Developer Extensibility - development tenant (DEV/080)
  • Using the custom service in a custom application.
  • Testing the custom application/custom service in customizing tenant (DEV/100).
  • Noticing the changes done to the service metadata on the development tenant are not reflected in the customizing tenant.

Environment

SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition

Reproducing the Issue

Development tenant (DEV/080):

  1. Creating a custom service (service binding).
  2. Creating a custom UI using the custom service.
  3. Deploying the custom UI to the development tenant.
  4. Creating an IAM app and a business catalog in development tenant.

Customizing tenant (DEV/100):

  1. Assign the recently created business catalog to a business role in customizing tenant.
  2. Access the application and test the behavior.

Development tenant (DEV/080):

  1. Making a change in the metadata of custom services in development tenant. i.e. annotation, field property,...
  2. Testing the changes in the development tenant
  3. Changes are reflected as expected.

Customizing tenant (DEV/100):

  1. Testing the changes in customizing tenant
  2. Notice the changes made in the development tenant are not updated in the customizing tenant.

Cause

The metadata cache invalidation job is incorrectly set up in the customizing tenant.

Resolution

A fix will be delivered with 2508 release (Starter systems 2-3. August & Development systems 16-17.August).

Workaround:

In the customizing tenant (DEV/100), please republish any existing custom catalog extension already published.

The workaround will have an impact on your custom applications developed in the context of developer extensibility as well.

By republishing an already published custom catalog extension, the odata metadata cache invalidation will be triggered and this will also affect the custom applications that you have developed in the context of Developer Extensibility.
