Symptom
Income accounts defined with account type "INC" are displayed as positive values in reports, even though they are stored as negative values in the model.
Environment
SAP Analytics Cloud.
Reproducing the Issue
- Log in to SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC).
- Create a new model that includes an Account dimension.
-
In the model, define account members and assign the account type "INC" to the income accounts.
- Upload negative values for these income accounts into the model.
- Create a new story based on the above model.
>> Observe that the income accounts display positive values, despite the data being stored as negative in the model.
Cause
- SAP Analytics Cloud automatically applies sign inversion for accounts with type "INC" during reporting.
- If negative values are manually uploaded and the "Reverse the Sign of the Data Based on Account Type" option is also enabled during import, this can lead to a double inversion, causing income values to appear as positive in reports.
Resolution
To control how signs are displayed for "INC" accounts in reports, set the "Reverse the Sign of the Data Based on Account Type" option during import:
- Enable the option if it is desired to reverse signs based on account type.
- Disable the option if the source data already has the correct sign.
