Symptom
What is the system behavior if you rehire an external candidate with a terminated user who has a future termination date
Environment
SAP SuccessFactors Onboarding
Reproducing the Issue
- Initiate onboarding for an external candidate from recruiting with a start date of 1st May 2026
- Complete onboarding steps
- Candidate enters rehire verification
- Accept as Rehire on New Employment with user with future termination date of 1st April 2026
- Onboarding Process shows hire type as Legal Entity Transfer on New Employment
- System sets to Legal Entity Transfer on New Employment due to the future termination date
Resolution
When a candidate with a future termination date is rehired, the system automatically sets the hire type to 'Legal Entity Transfer for New Employment.' This behavior is standard within the system.
The system supports scenarios where there is a gap between the termination date and the new start date. To ensure this process works correctly, the termination date must be set as a future date and positioned before the new start date. However, it does not necessarily need to be the immediate day before the new start date.
Enhancement OBX-42594: Our engineering team are working on a design change to include the hire type “rehire on new employment” for candidates with future termination date and future start date. However, we should note that there is no functional change since Rehire with Legal Entity Transfer will use the same feature as Rehire with New Employment.
