3615487 - ID of reports and fields used instead of descriptions with SAP Business ByDesign Analytics jobs

• When using ByDesign data in model within SAC, the ID values rather than friendly descriptions are displayed, making it very difficult to use.
• Behaviour has changed, SAC used to show friendly descriptions for ByDesign

• SAP Analytics Cloud
• SAP Business ByDesign

In the Classic Model, field names are based on the sap:label i.e. description. This seems convenient at first, but it actually causes a big problem. If a label is ever changed in the datasource, SAC treats it as if the field itself has changed, which leads to schema changed error and requires rebuilding the model.

The New Model avoids this issue by relying on the technical field names instead. This approach is much more stable because it won’t break when labels change. It ensures models remain reliable, even if the underlying system is updated.

Due to the current architecture, changing the behaviour back would not be possible.
