3615943 - Unable to Start SAP HANA DB Due to Log Volume Reaching 96% or Higher

Symptom

The SAP HANA database fails to start because the log volume usage has reached 96% or higher.
The following error messages are observed:

  • "log partition disk usage 95% >= log_disk_usage_limit 95%, do not create new log segment"
  • "Log full - log_disk_usage_limit 95% reached in log partition /hana/log/SID/mnt00001/hdb00001/, current disk usage is 95%, awaiting free segment or additional free disk space"
  • "New event reported: 'LogFullEvent[volumeid=1,eventid=1,part=/hana/log/SID/mnt00001/hdb00001/]'
  • "Retry of log segment creation failed, log full still active in log partition /hana/log/SID/mnt00001/hdb00001/, awaiting free segment or additional disk space"
