3616097 - Why Base Value is Zero, Depreciation Amount is Non-zero in Tax Area?

Symptom

For tax area 15, The base value is zero in period 1~11, why there is depreciation amount 13 JPY?

"Image/data in this KBA is from SAP internal systems, sample data, or demo systems. Any resemblance to real data is purely coincidental."

Environment

SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition.

Cause

This is the standard behavior.

Resolution

  1. Ordinary depreciation amount in tax area 15 is calculated as -83 JPY and in book area 32 is calculated as -70 JPY, then NBV of derived depreciation area 92 (tax area 15 - book area 32) becomes negative (-13 JPY), this means depreciation shortage occurs (Q5 in FAQ Note 1736835 explained depreciation shortage)
  2. To resolve depreciation shortage, ordinary depreciation amount 13 JPY is automatically set in tax area, then NBV of derived depreciation area 92 becomes zero (not negative) and there is no depreciation shortage. So ordinary depreciation amount (-83+ 13 = 70 JPY) is displayed in tax area 15.
