3616226 - Custom field value truncated in app Manage Journal Entries

Symptom

In app Custom fields, custom field created using Journal Entry Item business context and or Coding Block business context with field length greater than 80.

In App Manage Journal Entries;

  • If a line item already contains a value longer than 80 characters, editing the item will truncate the value to 80 characters upon saving.

  • If the line item is initially empty, entering a value longer than 80 characters will also result in truncation to 80 characters after saving.

Environment

SAP S/4HANA Public Cloud 

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Open Manage Journal Entries.
  2. Select a journal entry.
  3. Choose Edit Line Items and navigate to custom field. 
  4. Enter a value longer than 80 characters in the respective field.
  5. Save the entry.
  6. The final result shows that the entered value is truncated to 80 characters.

Cause

This is a limitation in the current design in app Manage Journal Entries for custom field. 

Resolution

In release 2508, in app Manage Journal Entries the custom field value will not be truncated if greater than 80 characters.
