3616823 - Error 'Statement date & is after date & of a statement with higher number' with specific date in Manage Bank Statements app

Symptom

Error "Statement date & is after date & of a statement with higher number." is raised when the bank statement is manually created and not sequential

Environment

SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Open the 'Manage Bank Statement' app.
  2. Attempt to add a bank statement date with a previous date.
  3. Observe the error message "Statement date & is after date & of a statement with higher number."

Cause

In the manual process, the user may not always choose 'create next' but might use the 'create' button and then assign any random number to a bank statement. This causes system checks to ensure that the bank statement numbers are not entered randomly, as it can cause issues during year-end closings.

Resolution

  1. In the electronic import process, ensure compliant files from the bank are used. The checks in this process take care of previously imported Bank Statements (BS) and balances while importing new BS on a certain account.
  2. For the manual process, avoid using the 'create' button to assign random numbers to a bank statement.
  3. Ensure to use a higher bank statement number and try creating the bank statement again.
