3618683 - Checkpoint not progressing since upgrading to 16.0 SP04 PL07 - ASE

Symptom

  • Upgrade from 16.0 SP04 PL06 HF1 to 16.0 SP04 PL07
  • Housekeeper GC in latch sleep

spid 12, HKGC is in latch sleep.  It is waiting for a latch held by spid 19279. 

  • The latch holder is sleeping on the PLC (user log cache) held by the Housekeeper GC

  • One or more databases has run out of space, raising an 1105 error.

00:0202:00000:15621:2025/05/27 19:13:36.92 server  Space available in segment 'logsegment' has fallen critically low in database 'tempdb_sa'. All future modifications to this database will be aborted until the transaction log is successfully dumped and space becomes available.

  • Latch sleep process is blocking other processes
