3619103 - Inline Edit does not work for Amount Type field

Symptom

When using Inline Edit functionality to edit a record, it is not possible to select Currency for Amount Type field. The error outlined below is received:

  • Save failed | Enter the currency for the specified amount

Environment

SAP Cloud for Customer

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Go to relevant screen i.e Account TI screen
  2. Edit the relevant record using inline edit
  3. You can see that currency cannot be selected for Amount field
  4. Error: Save failed | Enter the currency for the specified amount

Cause

The field Currency belongs to the Amount compound field consisting of the fields Amount and currencyCode. Only the first field of a compound field can be edited, in this case Amount. This is the designed behavior. 

Resolution

If the feature/functionality is required urgently, please refer to KBA 3475641 - Functionality Currently not Available.

An alternative option may be to check the corresponding SAP Customer Influence Site to submit an idea:
