Symptom
A purchase order has already been dispatched to the supplier, where the delivery address for the PO item is manually entered. If the purchaser updates the manual delivery address—without making any other changes—and then saves and places the order again, the output for the purchase order will not be generated.
Environment
SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition
Reproducing the Issue
- Launch the Manage Purchase Orders or Change Purchase Order - Advanced application.
- Navigate to the item tab and modify the Delivery Address details.
- Verify the output status in the Output Management field located in the purchase order header.
→ No update is detected because of the manual delivery address modification, and no change output is generated.
Note:
The delivery address fields are enabled in SSCUI Fields Relevant to Printouts of Change (102272).
Cause
From a technical perspective, changes made to a manually entered delivery address are treated as modifications to the address entity, which is linked to the Purchase Order entity but is not a direct component of it, unlike fields such as net amount or supplier. Due to this technical limitation, changes to the manual address do not trigger a change output.
Resolution
- This behavior is currently standard system behavior. Since manual delivery address changes are technically handled as changes to a linked address entity rather than to the Purchase Order entity itself, no change output is triggered for these modifications.
- At present, there is no standard configuration available to trigger output redetermination based solely on manual delivery address changes. As a workaround, users may manually resend the purchase order output or make another output-relevant change in the purchase order if a change output is required.
