3619290 - Unexpected Error in Suggested Roles tab on Legacy Career Worksheet

Symptom

When accessing Suggested Roles tab in Legacy Career Worksheet module, the error message "Unexpected error" is displayed.

Environment

SAP SuccessFactors Career Development Plan

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Go to Development > Legacy Career Worksheet;
  2. Access the tab "Suggested Roles";
  3. The "Unexpected Error" is displayed.

Cause

Cause can be due to inactive attribute(s) mapped to Job Roles, or linked Skills that do not have a Proficiency Level associated.

Resolution

There are 2 potential causes for this issue in Career Worksheet. It is important to always check both causes in your instance and apply the resolutions, to avoid the error.

Suggested Roles tab pulls information from all Job Roles created for the instance, not excluding Job Roles with inactive attributes or Skills without Proficiency Level. Therefore, it is important to review Job Roles' attributes when deleting an attribute, and maintaining Proficiency Level rating for Skills.

Inactive Attributes mapped to Job Roles

To identify the inactive attributes mapped to Job Roles:

  1. Go to Admin Center > Import and Export Data;
  2. Select the action "Export Data";
  3. Export the data for the Generic Object "Role-Mapped Competencies" and "Role-Mapped Attributes";
  4. Export the data files in Scheduled Job Manager;
  5. Open the .csv files, and filter the data by the "Status" column (roleCompetencyMappings.status or roleCustomAttributeMappings.status), to included only attributes with the value "I" (Inactive).

To fix this issue, you need to activate the attributes mapped to the Job Roles identified in the exported files, in the Admin Center > Manage Talent Intelligence Hub > Filter by the attribute(s) ID(s) or status Inactive, and activate them again (Select the Attribute > Click Change Status).

You can then remove the Job Role mapping in Manage Job Profile Content > Set Up Families and Roles, in case you need to inactive the attribute again. Otherwise, you can keep the association.

Skills without Proficiency Level mapped to Job Roles

To identify Skills without a Proficiency Level mapped to Job Roles:

  1. Go to Admin Center > Import and Export Data;
  2. Select the action "Export Data";
  3. Export the data for the Generic Object "Role-Mapped Skills";
  4. Export the data files in Scheduled Job Manager;
  5. Open the .csv files, and filter the data by the column "roleSkillMappings.wsmProficiencyLevel", to included only Skills with value "0" (zero) or blank.

To fix this issue, you need to add a Proficiency Level for the mapped Skills, either via import or manually in Manage Job Profile Content tool:

  • To update the information via import, export the template for the Generic Object "Role-Mapped Skills", and add only the rows from the previous exported file containing skills with "0" (zero) or blank value for the column "roleSkillMappings.wsmProficiencyLevel". Replace the values in this column to 1 (or any value from the used Proficiency Level Scale), save the file, and import it using the Import and Export Data tool.
  • To update the information manually in the UI, go to Manage Job Profile Content > Set Up Families and Roles, select the role(s) identified in the previously exported file, under "# Mapped Skills" tab, edit the skills with no Proficiency Level to add one, and save role.
