3620104 - Dynamic variables shown as ID instead of descriptions in stories in SAP Analytics Cloud ISAC)

In SAC Story, dynamic variables are displayed as ID instead of description in

1. Variable dialog
2. Dynamic text
3. Variable token

• SAP Analytic Cloud
• Remote models (non-BW) that have dynamic variables, using HANA as backend

In a story, use a model that has dynamic variable. The dynamic variable is set to use server value. Value display is set to show description. 

1. Open the variable dialog, notice the variable value is displayed as ID
2. Add the variable to a dynamic text, notice it’s displayed as ID
3. Add the variable to filter bar, notice the value is ID instead of description

This is a current limitation.

Future feature enhancement

Workaround:

• In the variable dialog, use value help to fetch the value of the dynamic variable. The description will be available after that
• The description will be missing again when the value of the dynamic variable is updated on the server side
