Symptom
- Identified Stock ID field is disabled for selection even though the materials are batch managed
Environment
SAP Business ByDesign
Reproducing the Issue
- Navigate to the Production Control work center.
- Go to the Task Control view.
- Find and select the relevant Task ID.
- Confirm the task.
- Go to the Line items tab (if not already there by default).
- Select any Line of the Input Product, observe that the Identified Stock ID field is disabled even though the materials are batch managed.
Cause
Material Flow Rule is not maintained, and when the system allocates the Input Material automatically, the Identified Stock ID field is deactivated per standard. Since Material Flow rules are not maintained, the system applies the default rule:
- Default logistics area use is Storage.
- Default picking strategy is Minimum Movements.
- Default put-away strategy is First Found.
Resolution
- Maintain Material Flow Rules at the Logistics Areas or any Hierarchy above same to avoid the Identified Stock field being disabled.
- If Material Flow Rules are not maintained, ensure to update the Identified Stock ID in the Production Order when the status is In Preparation.
- Cancel the current Production Order if it needs to be confirmed with the Identified Stock IDs.
- Create a new Production Order after maintaining the Material Flow Rules or create a new Production Order and maintain the Identified Stock IDs in the Production Order before releasing it.
