3621006 - "Error while saving" when sharing Story report with an user even though the affected user exists on SAC side - People Analytics

When sharing a Story report to a specific user, the following error message is shown: "Error while saving". According to KBA 2989998 - "Error while saving" when sharing Story report by User, it is because the user you are trying to share the report does not exists on the SAC side. However, you have checked via check tool and the user exists. 

SAP SuccessFactors HCM Suite

1. Go to Report Center;
2. Find the Story report;
3. Click Actions > Share menu and go to User tab;
4. Enter user in search name field, select the user from dropdown, and then click on Go;
5. Select the matching result;
6. Click on Save
    Result: you will see "Error while Saving" message;
7. Repeat actions 3-6 but for another Report Type, e.g. Canvas, Table
    Result: Share is successfully saved.

There is other user in the share list of this report that was deleted or inactivated. 

It is a known gap of Story reports that once a user is inactivated or deleted, the already shared Stories reports continue to be shared with this specific user. But, once you try to add a new user to the share list, the sharing will fail throwing generic error message "Error while saving". 

To confirm if this scenario applies to your case, please confirm if the user you are trying to share the report is created on the SAC side by using the Check Tool. Instructions on how to do that on KBA 2994478 - How to Check if a User exists in SAC - People Analytics.

If the user is created, please try to duplicate the report you would like to share, and make sure to share this duplicate report only to this user. You will see that the sharing will be successful.

In order to be able to share the original report with the user, you need to verify if it is being shared with any user that were already deleted or inactivated in the system. And if it is, please unshare the report for these inactive users. They will be in the list of the users that this report in being shared with.
