Symptom

Is S-user ID setup is required to access SAC?

Environment

SAP Analytics Cloud 2025.8.6

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Login to SAC tenant
  2. From the side navigation, go to Security
  3. Go to Users
  4. Select + (New) to add a new user to the user management table.
  5. Enter a User ID.
  6. Each user needs a unique ID. Only alphanumeric and underscore characters are allowed. The maximum length is 20 characters.
  7. Enter the username details.
  8. Only Last Name is mandatory, but it is recommended that you provide a First Name, Last Name, and Display Name.
  9. Enter an Email address. (A welcome email with logon information will be sent to this address. 
  10. Select the Manager who will approve requests this user makes for new role assignments.
  11. Users can request additional roles only if they have a custom role that allows for self-service.
  12. Select the icon and choose one or more roles from the list.
  13. If one or more default roles have already been created, you can leave Roles empty. Default roles will be assigned when you click save.
  14. Select Save.

Notice: No S-user ID was required in this process.

Cause

This is behavior by design.

Resolution

Specifically, S-user ID is not needed to create the users in SAC, though User ID is a mandatory field, as each user requires a unique ID. It is always displayed in upper case and can only contain alphanumeric characters and underscores up to a maximum length of 20 characters.
