Symptom
A story is saved in another folder using save as and marked as favorite. Now in the original story if changes are made and it is overwritten on the previously saved story, the favorite mark is removed from the previously saved story.
Environment
SAP ANALYTICS CLOUD version 2025.8.6
Reproducing the Issue
- Login to the SAC
- Open the story in folder A
- Save the story with the same name in another folder using save as.
- Navigate to that folder where the story is newly saved and mark the story as favorite.
- Navigate back to the original folder and open the story in edit mode and make any changes to it.
- Click on save as and then click on overwrite from the dialogue box.
- Now navigate back to the other folder and notice the story in this folder is not marked as favorite any more.
Cause
This is behavior by design.
Overwriting a story means replacing the original file entirely, and it is not expected that user-specific markers (like Favorite) should automatically be transferred.
Resolution
If the story should remain as favorite, then user would need to manually re-add it to favorite after the overwrite with save as.
