3625230 - 'ISO code is not correct in the VAT registration number' Error While Trying to Enter Tax Number

Symptom

Error message is displayed upon trying to enter VAT Registration Number for a supplier from country IE - Ireland in supplier master data:

'ISO code ABC is not correct in the VAT registration number'

ABC refers to the first two alphanumeric characters being entered for the tax number.

Remark: this KBA focus on an example of VAT Registration Number being entered for country IE - Ireland, however, the explanation provided here is valid for all tax number types assigned to countries which are not part of the list of 21 countries localized in SAP Business ByDesign.
