Environment
SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition
Reproducing the Issue
- Open the "Manage Product Master Data" app.
- Select a product and click "Edit."
- Navigate to the "Units of Measure" section and add a new conversion unit.
- Enter a conversion factor with more than five digits (e.g., 1 PAC = 100000 PC).
- Error appears
Cause
System is working as intended.
Resolution
Change the base unit of measurement (UoM) to a unit larger than the smallest available unit. If no appropriate unit exists, create one using the SSCUI/Configuration Activity 102179 "Check Units of Measurement."
- Go for the "Units of Measure" section of a product.
- Change the base Unit of Measure to a mid-range unit of measure.
- Maintain the conversion factors related to the new base Unit of Measure.
Note: Since inventory is managed in the base unit of measurement, this may result in rounding errors in stock.
To minimize this effect, it is recommendable to choose a base UoM 10 or 100 times larger than the smallest available unit.
