3626834 - "Could not download the file SY-SUBRC: 21" when exporting excel files via SAP GUI for Windows

Symptom

  • The user is unable to download an Excel file using the latest version of SAP GUI.
  • Error message: "Could not download the file SY-SUBRC: 21".
  • Below errors appears in SAP GUI session trace:

(Error)(DD.MM.YY HH:MM:SS): CreateFile failed: hr=0x80070020, lastError=0(The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process.)
(Error)(DD.MM.YY HH:MM:SS): CreateFile failed: hr=0x80070020, lastError=0(The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process.)
(Error)(DD.MM.YY HH:MM:SS): ConvertStreamToFile failed: hr=0x80070020(The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process.)
