3626865 - Future Direct Mapping is not supported in Document Mapping - Onboarding

When using the Future Direct mapping type in Manage Document Template Mapping for Offboarding documents, fields mapped from future-dated data in Employee Central (EC) appear empty in the generated documents.

SAP SuccessFactors Onboarding

1. Go to Manage Document Template Mapping in Admin Center.
2. Select a document template and choose Mapping Type: Future Direct.
3. Map fields that depend on future-dated data (e.g., Job Information or Employment Details effective after the current date).
4. Trigger an Offboarding process by entering a future-dated termination event for an employee in Employee Central.
5. Generate the Offboarding documents for the affected employee.
6. The generated Offboarding documents display empty values for the mapped fields.

This issue occurs due to a current system limitation in SAP SuccessFactors Onboarding/Offboarding. The system does not support field mapping from future-dated entities in EC. When trying to fetch values that are effective in the future using Future Direct mapping, the system cannot retrieve the data, resulting in blank fields in the generated documents.

Avoid using Future Direct mapping when mapping fields that rely on future-dated data. As a workaround, only use data that is effective as of today’s date or ensure that the relevant data is available in the system as of the current effective date.

SAP is aware of this limitation.
