3629516 - Prompt option: "Show mandatory variables only" does not save with the Story in SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC)

Symptom

  • Option "Show mandatory variables Only" is not saved with the Story.
  • After selecting the option "Show mandatory variables Only", and saving the Story, when reopening the Story it still prompts for all the variables.
  • When viewing a Story, it always displays all the variables every time, regardless the option "Show mandatory variables Only" was checked before.
  • When checking the option "Show mandatory variables Only", expect to always display mandatory variables only, when opening the Story in SAP Analytics Cloud.

Environment

SAP Analytics Cloud 2025.8.6

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Create a Model based on a Live Connection to HANA View or SAP BW Query containing multiple variables, including at least one Mandatory variable.
     
  2. Create a Story based on the Model created in step 1.
     
  3. When viewing the Story, in the variable prompt screen, check the option "Show mandatory variables Only".

     

  4. Notice it now only shows the Mandatory variables.
      
  5. Save, and close the Story.
       
  6. Open the Story, and notice the screen shows all the variables, and the option "Show mandatory variables Only" is unchecked.

     

Cause

  • Expected behavior.
  • The option "Show Mandatory Variables Only" is not saved with the Story.

Resolution

  • There is no option in SAP Analytics Cloud to save the Variable Prompt option: "Show Mandatory Variables Only". When a Story is open, this option will always be unchecked.
