3629999 - First patch activation fails - Y1234567Y.sadl does not exist

Symptom

First-time patch activation fails with errors as below:

  • Failed to activate items of type DataSource
  • File /Y1234567Y_MAIN/SRC/DataSource/DS_DataSource1_Y1234567Y.sadl does not exist
  • File /Y1234567Y_MAIN/SRC/DataSource/DS_DataSource1_Y1234567Y.sadl is not found in layer strategy YC1V2KKDY_DEV
  • Repository error at file path
  • Error when processing class CL_PDI_DS_MAINTAIN of component AP-RC-BDS-ANA
  • Errors during activation of solution Y1234567Y_.

Environment

  • SAP Cloud for Customer
  • SAP Business ByDesign
  • SAP Cloud Application Studio

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Login to Visual Studio
  2. Open the solution Y1234567Y_
  3. Try solution activation following first time patch creation
  4. Errors are raised

Cause

  • If the original solution namespace is added to the name of a data source this issue will occur on first time patch creation since the sadl files referenced will not exist.
  • It is important to avoid adding the solution Y-name (which is a technical name) to the name of any content as this can cause issues such as this during the aliasing process of patch creation

Resolution

  1. Raise a case to SAP support referencing the following internal KBA to assist with dealing with correction: https://me.sap.com/notes/3629919 
  2. It is important to avoid adding the solution Y-name (which is a technical name) to the name of any content as this can cause issues such as this during the aliasing process of patch creation
