3630873 - CMS using up to 100% CPU, memory leak, eventual crash on certain Administrative Actions.

Symptom

Certain actions cause the CMS-Server to increase in Memory size until the Server crashes. 

  • Trying to open the AD-Configuration.
    • The scheduled AD-Sync continues to run without errors.
  • Trying to add members to certain User Groups
  • When querying certain Enterprise User Groups through the query Builder
    • This does not necessarily cause a crash, but significant memory size increases.
    • We cannot say for certain which specific user groups, this behavior whilst querying "top x"

The following behavior may be experienced after clicking on the Group List in CMC -> Users and Groups, or navigating within the Group Hierarchy, or login with specific users

  • CMS may use 25%, 50%, 75% or 100% CPU
  • CMS memory usage is indefinitely increasing
  • CMS will eventually crash or be killed by OS handling.
