3631289 - Error: "You don't have permission to view the Successor entity" while selecting through Virtual table created from ODataAdapter connection

Symptom

  • User is testing a HANA upgrade to version 2.0 rev 79.2 and observed changed behavior when performing federated joins using the ODataAdapter against a SuccessFactors source.
  • In production (HANA 2.0.037), federated joins between ODATA virtual tables are pushed down correctly to the SuccessFactors source.
  • In sandbox (HANA 2.0.079), the same join query is not pushed down. Instead, it returns the error: "[COE0020] You don't have permission to view the Successor entity"
  • This error is documented in KBA 3001998 – [COE0020] You don't have permission to view the Successor entity.  Direct select is already avoided through "Inner Join", but the same "Inner Join" is not working in upgraded HANA version
