3632428 - Error "no data set found, check the file format" error while importing exchange rates

Symptom

There is an error when trying to upload exchange rates into the system: "No data set found; check the file format"

Environment

SAP Cloud for Customer

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Go to the work center Administrator and the view Common Tasks.
  2. Click on Exchange Rate For Foreign Currencies.
  3. Click Import > From Microsoft Excel.
  4. Select your file and click Ok.
  5. You get the error message.

Cause

The error occurs because the format of the file that you are trying to upload is not correct. To see the required format for uploading, you can download the template to compare: In the exchange rates, click on Download Excel XML Template. This will open a sample file.

Resolution

  1. The file you use for uploading must have the same columns and data format as the template (xml).
  2. Ensure that your file has the correct columns only (i.e. Rate Type, Source Currency, Target Currency etc).
  3. Ensure that there are no headers in the Excel file and that the rate type is shown with ID only, i.e. "001" instead of "001 - Default Exchange Rate Type".
