Symptom
The VAT registration validation rules for Australia are not working as expected , the error message encounters 'VAT number should be either 11 or 14 digits'.

SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition
Reproducing the Issue
- Open "Manage Your Solution" App.
- Open "Configure Your Solution".
- Search for the ID 500286.
- Select SSCUI 102592-Set Country-Specific Checks.
- Choose the Country as Australia.
- Set the VAT Registration Number length as 11 & Checking rule as 5 (Maximum value length).
- Go to Maintain Business Partner App.
- Open the Business Partner.
- Navigate to the Identification tab.
- Update the Tax numbers section.
- Save the changes.
- Error message Occurs.
Cause
The issue is due to the 'Other Data' checkbox being enabled in SSCUI 102592 – Set Country-Specific Checks for Australia.
Resolution
The error message indicates that the Australian Business Number (ABN) should either be 11 digits without spaces or 14 digits with spaces. This validation is triggered when the 'Other Data' checkbox is enabled in SSCUI 102592 – Set Country-Specific Checks.
To bypass the validation, uncheck the 'Other Data' checkbox for country AU in SSCUI 102592 – Set Country-Specific Checks. This will disable the extended validation checks, allowing entry of the ABN with a maximum length of 11 digits.
