3633017 - Multi BOM Explosion Not Occurring for Nested Semi-Finished Product

• A production order is created for the finished product (ABC), and the system generates a production proposal and dependent demand for the finished product (ABC) and its input materials.
• Among the input materials, there is a semi-finished product (DEF) that has its own BoM, BoO, and Production Model. However, the system does not create a production proposal for the semi-finished product (DEF), and no dependent demand is generated for the input materials inside the semi-finished product (DEF).

SAP Business ByDesign

1. Go to the Supply Planning work center.
2. Open the Products view.
3. Search and open the finished product (ABC) with relevant planning area ID.
4. A production proposal is created for the finished product (ABC).
5. Now open the semi-finished product (DEF) and its input materials with relevant planning area ID.
6. No production proposal exists for the semi-finished product (DEF).
7. No dependent demand exists for the input materials under the semi-finished product (DEF).

• The planning procedure in the product master for both the finished product (ABC) and the semi-finished product (DEF) is maintained as 'Manual Planning'.
• Because Manual Planning prevents automatic planning, the system does not create a production proposal or dependent demand for the semi-finished product (DEF).

Update the Planning Procedure for both the finished product (ABC) and the semi-finished product (DEF) to any option other than Manual Planning (e.g., Demand-Driven Planning).

Steps:

1. Go to the Product Portfolio work center.
2. Open Products view.
3. Search for the finished product (ABC).
4. Choose Edit.
5. Select View all.
6. Navigate to the Planning tab.
7. Change the Planning Procedure to a value other than Manual Planning for relevant planning area.
8. Save and close.
9. Repeat the same steps for the semi-finished product (DEF).

Now run Multi-BoM Level Planning for the finished product (ABC).

1. Go to Supply Planning Work center
2. Select Products View
3. Search for the finished product(ABC) with relevant planning area ID
4. Choose Open.
5. Click 'Run Planning' and Select 'Multi-BoM Level'

Now the system will create production proposal for semi-finished product(DEF) and Dependent demand for input products which is inside the semi-finished product.
