3633246 - Error when activating changes in the new Visual Studio version

Symptom

When trying to activate changes in the UI Designer, the following error appears:

  • UI Designer has caught an exception.
    Could not find file 'C:\path\to\VisualStudio2022\sapLSUICheckmateRTChecksWPF.dll'.

Environment

  • SAP Cloud Applications Studio
  • SAP Cloud for Customer
  • SAP Business ByDesign

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Open the UI Designer.
  2. Do some changes.
  3. Try to activate.
  4. Error appears.

Cause

This is a known error.

Resolution

As a workaround to this, follow these steps:

  1. Enter Edit mode in UI Designer.
  2. Deselect the option "Enable Checkmate".
  3. Try to save again.

If the screen where you want to activate the changes is a standard screen, then the following message will appear when trying to enter edit mode:

  • Component which you are trying to edit comes from a lower layer. Please use Extensibility Explorer to edit.

To circumvent that, follow these steps:

  1. Open the UI Designer for a custom screen.
  2. Enter edit mode.
  3. Disable the Checkmate.
  4. Close the UI Designer.
