Symptom

After cancelling onboarding on the dashboard, the error message pops up: Error [COE0018] Deactivating external user xxxxx failed

Environment

SAP SuccessFactors Onboarding

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Find the candidate on onboarding dashboard
  2. Cancel Onboarding
  3. Error: [COE0018] Deactivating external user xxxxx failed

Cause

  • At the time of cancellation of this user, there is mismatch between "Account type". It is expecting "ONBOARDEE" but found "EMPLOYEE" since the user status is 'e' (Go to Data Inspector > Table_USER_ACCOUNT > Person ID External > Account Type, to check the account type of this candidate).
  • Generally, this issue happens for Rehire on old Employment. Sometime even after Onboarding process update the Account type correctly, there is some other running parallel HRIS sync job which can revert the changes.

Resolution

  • Executing the script to update the useraccount details with correct AccountType to unblock the cancellation of Onboarding. 
  • Please raise a ticket to Product Support Team using LOD-SF-OBX-CAN component, and provide so a script will be run:
  1. Company id
  2. Support access
  3. The approval to execute the script
  4. This KBA's number
