Symptom

When attempting to update balances manually for a bank account, you encounter the error message:
"Cannot update balances for the bank account using manual entry."

Environment

SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Open the Manage Bank Accounts app.

  2. Select the bank account in question.

  3. Attempt to update the balance manually.

  4. The error message "Cannot update balances for the bank account using manual entry" is displayed.

Cause

The issue is due to the configuration of the bank account in the Manage Bank Accounts app.
Under the Bank Relationship tab, the setting Balance Update Method → Enable Balance from Manual Entry is set to No, which prevents manual balance updates.

Resolution

  1. To enable manual balance updates, perform the following steps:

    1. Open the Manage Bank Accounts app.

    2. Go to the Bank Relationship tab.

    3. In the Balance Update Method section, set Enable Balance from Manual Entry to Yes.

    4. Save your changes.

    5. Retry the manual balance update.
