3635089 - "Responsible for Account" Determination Rule in Sales Quote Approval Process

Sales quote approver determination: the determination rule "Responsible for Account" does not yield the expected approver.

SAP Cloud for Customer

1. Go to the work center Sales and the view Sales Quotes.
2. Open sales quote.
3. Go to the Approval tab and check the approver - an employee is maintained here.
4. Open the account from the sales quote.
5. Observe that no owner has been assigned so the expectation is that no approver will be found.

The "Responsible for Account" work distribution option in sales quote approvals routes the approval to the employee who is assigned as the "Account Owner" or, if missing, the "Sales Employee" for the customer associated with the quote. This ensures that the approval is handled by the person most directly involved with the customer relationship. 

The determination of the sales employee is configured in Business Configuration > Activity "Sales Quotes" > Maintain Involved Parties > Check the determination for "Sales Employee". For example, if you use the step 15 - Employee Responsible of Territory Team, check the Sales Territory tab of the account. The responsible employee for the sales territory will be determined as approver, if no account owner is maintained. In cases where there is more than 1 territory, the responsible i.e. the approver, can be either of them. The system will randomly take any one of the available territory responsible / approvers.
