3635889 - Unable to maintain tax code for Canada using condition type in SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition

• Unable to maintain GST Tax code for Canada using condition type JRC1 as the field is greyed out.
• Users are unable to post taxes with GST and PST for Canada due to the unavailability of the tax code combination in the production system.

SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition

1. Attempt to maintain a new tax code for Canada at the jurisdiction level (e.g., CAON for Ontario).
2. Observe that it is not possible to maintain condition types JRC1, JC1E, JC2E, and JGST for the new tax code.
3. Verify that the field is greyed out, preventing further configuration.

The issue arises because maintaining second-level condition types (e.g., JRC1) requires entering the second-level tax jurisdiction (e.g., CA00 for Canada). This is a business requirement and cannot be bypassed.

Enter the second-level jurisdiction (e.g., CA00 for Canada) when maintaining a new tax code.

For example when maintaining a new tax code for Canada. Try to maintain new code ZZ at jurisdiction level CAON (Ontario) it is not possible to maintain JRC1, JC1E, JC2E and JGST condition types for the new tax code. This is a business requirement. To maintain the level 2 condition types please enter the Federal or second level jurisdiction for example in Canada this would be CA00.  

Save the tax jurisdiction CA00 under the condition type JRC1.

Once saved at the second-level jurisdiction, proceed to save the tax jurisdiction for other states (e.g., CAON for Ontario) under the required condition types (e.g., JRC2, JRC3, etc.).
