3636650 - Sales Order Release Fails Due to Missing Project Task Assignment After Account Change

When releasing a sales order after changing the account:

1. The project reference is lost after modifying the account in a sales order that originally had an associated project.

2. Project-related items (e.g., service items) show missing project task assignments.

3. Despite one item being canceled, the sales order reaches "Released" status but fails with the error: "Order not released; No project task is assigned to item xx".

SAP Business ByDesign

1. Navigate to the Sales Order Work Center.
2. Create a new sales order.
3. In the General tab, select an account ABC.
4. Add an product XYZ with type Type as Service - time and material (project)
5. Click Create Project to generate the project.
6. Change the original account to a different account.
7. Observe that the project task assignment is missing for the item.
8. Attempt to release the sales order.
9. The error appears: "Order not released; No project task is assigned to item xx".

• ABC represents the ID of the account.
• XYZ represents the ID of the product.

This is standard system behavior:

• Changing the account severs the project reference because projects are account-specific.
• The system automatically removes project task assignments from items when the account is modified.
• Item cancellation may bypass project validation checks, allowing partial "Released" status before the error occurs.

Manually reassign project tasks:

1. Open the sales order.
2. For each project-related item:
3. Locate the Project Task field.
4. Reassign the original project task (if available in the dropdown).
5. Save changes.
6. Release the sales order.
7. Attempt release after reassigning tasks.
