Symptom
The system does not allow users to apply for leave outside of their planned working time.
Example Scenario:
If an employee’s planned working hours are from 09:00 to 18:00, the expectation is that the system should allow leave requests for time outside of this range (e.g., from 18:00 to 23:00). However, this is currently not permitted.
Environment
- SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central -Time Management
Reproducing the Issue

Navigate to Administer Time UI > Create Absence

Select the Time Type, Start Time, and End Time

Set the End Time outside of the employee's planned working hours
(e.g., End Time = 23:00, when planned end time = 18:00) -
The system throws an error
Cause
- Working as designed.
Resolution
By default, the system restricts leave requests to the planned working time defined in the employee’s assigned work schedule.
To enable leave requests outside of the standard working hours, the employee’s work schedule must be configured to include flextime bandwidth. This allows greater flexibility in the time frame during which absences can be recorded.
