3637013 - How to Manage ITMID: Internal vs. External Generation in Material BOM migration object in SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition

Symptom

In the Migrate your data app, during the Material BOM migration, determine whether the mandatory field ITMID (Item ID) should be generated internally by the system or provided externally in the migration template.

Cause

Misunderstanding whether the ITMID value should be generated internally or provided externally can lead to errors during migration.

Resolution

  1. Verify whether the ITMID value is generated internally or externally by referring to the ITM_IDENT_EXT field (Indicator: Internal Item Identification). 
  2. Populate the ITM_IDENT_EXT field as follows.
  3. Enter "X" if the item identification (ITMID) is to be generated internally by the system.
  4. Leave the field empty if the item identification is provided externally in the migration template.
